Sign R403
What it means
You are entering a woonerf, an area with its own special rules. Pedestrians (people on foot) use the street and children may be playing in it.
What you must do
Drive slowly and obey the special woonerf rules. Yield (give way) to pedestrians in the street and be particularly on the look out for children playing.
Where you see it
On any public road.
Remember
Woonerf: 30km/h, pedestrians first, watch for children.
The special rules of a woonerf:
- The speed limit in the area is 30km/h.
- You must yield right of way to pedestrians in the street.
- You may not drive through the area without breaking your journey.
- Vehicles with a mass of more than 3 500 kg may not enter.
