What it means

This marking shows where a driver whose brakes have become defective (have failed) can drive the vehicle off the road. It is especially for drivers of heavy vehicles. The gravel section ahead will stop the vehicle.

What you must do

Only drive into the arrestor bed when your brakes fail.

Where you see it

On any rural road, especially in mountainous areas.
